What are the common misconceptions about the probate process? (Nick Kaster discusses with "Reel Lawyers")
Transcript:
There’s a lot of misconceptions about probate namely that its time consuming, costly, and it’s the worse process in the world and should be avoided at all costs. Certainly, some of those things are true but to say that it should be avoided at all costs I don’t think that’s true. The probate process can play a very important role in disputed estates and in those cases we have a judge or a referee overseeing the administration process. And if there’s questions or concerns or issues we can approach the judge and have him or her resolve those issues hopefully, in a way that is consistent with the what the decedent intended and hopefully, in a way that makes all the beneficiaries moderately happy.
