Public contracting in Minnesota changed January 1, 2015, when Minnesota’s Responsible Contractor Act became effective. The new statute was amended during the 2015 Legislative Session as well. This new Minnesota law makes contractors ineligible to bid on or perform public contracts if they have been found to violate specified wage and hour laws or if they fail to meet minimum criteria created by the Minnesota Legislature.
