Exploring is a program offered through Scouting America, Central Minnesota Council, that connects youth ages 14-20 with community businesses and professionals through career Exploring Posts. Posts contain hands-on activities that authentically show what it is to be a part of a specific career. The goal is to assist youth in determining if a career is right (or wrong) for them. The program is based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience.

Law Careers Exploring ProgramOne of the careers to be explored is law. Law careers span a wide array of roles dedicated to upholding justice, interpreting laws, and advocating for clients' rights. These careers include attorneys, judges, paralegals, legal analysts, and law clerks, each contributing to the legal system's functionality and integrity. Attorneys represent clients in civil and criminal cases, providing legal advice and courtroom representation. Judges oversee legal proceedings, ensuring fairness and adherence to the law. Paralegals and legal assistants support lawyers by conducting research, drafting documents, and managing case files. Legal analysts interpret complex laws and regulations, often advising corporations and government agencies. Additionally, roles like mediators and arbitrators help resolve disputes outside the courtroom. A career in law requires analytical skills, attention to detail, ethical integrity, and a commitment to justice.

Moss & Barnett attorneys Jessica Brigman, Naomi Nelson, and Alex Schoephoerster will be part of the Law Careers Exploring Program which begins on November 7, 2024, and will run every two weeks through January 23, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Meeting 2 on November 21, 2024, will be held at the Moss & Barnett St. Cloud Office located at 3800 Eighth Street North, Suite 102, St. Cloud, MN 56303, and will be about Starting a Business and In-House Counsel. Other law topics to be covered at different Meetings include what does it mean to have a law career, estate planning, legal aid and non-profit, civil litigation, and criminal litigation and public defenders.
